Is it me, or has the network broadcast of the 2007 US OPEN golf tournament featured all that’s wrong with golf commentary of late? I realize that the many headed beast that is currently the NBC network, has needed to summon the most quirky line-up of pundits and babbling bobble-heads this side of a Nickelodeon awards show to broadcast the extended coverage of this tournament. It’s clear that these personalities have been summoned to offer their commentary whenever Johnny and Dan are taking their contractual naps.

Is Johnny Miller so over worked that he cannot handle the sun-up to sundown duties that require him once a year to offer his perspective on the US OPEN? To rest Johnny and Dan for the “Big Game” on Saturday and Sunday, NBC’s golf producers have decided to make Chris Berman the new “Jimmy the Geek” of golf. Why would they think that the US OPEN would be enriched by this kind of nonsense?

Club Deportivo Guadalajara, the most popular club of the Primera División Mexicana today announced its 2007 U.S. Tour will kick off on Sat., June 30 with an international match against Busan I’Park (South Korea) in San Jose, CA. Tickets for this match went on sale Mon., June 11.
The second match of the 2007 US tour will be on Thursday, July 5 at Houston’s Robertson Stadium. Chivas will face Club Alianza Lima of Peru. Tickets went on sale Fri., June 8. This match will be a doubleheader with the Houston Dynamo vs. New York Red Bulls.

Pre-sale tickets for Free Kick Masters 2007 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX went on sale today, May 29, online only, and will end Fri., June 1st. Already signed for the Dec. 22 event are Ronaldinho, Rafa Marquez of FC Barcelona, legendary goalkeeper Casey Keller and Italian goalkeeper Dragovic. Ticket prices range from $20 to $750. The last Free Kick Masters event was held in 2004 in Marbella, Spain. The event sold out and was broadcast to an estimated 110 million viewers in over 30 countries. Tickets can be purchased here.

Justin Miller was arrested today on third-degree assault charges following a fight in a New York nightclub. According to reports, he took a swing at a man, who ducked out of the way, and ended up decking a woman. He then proceeded to run away until caught following a police chase. Good to see you’re keepin’ up with that off-season training regimen, Justin.
